The objective is to extend some AccountEdge Desktop functionality into a browser-based environment for remote users or employees who would not want an entire accounting application (i.e. AED) installed on their computer.Continuing to sync through Dropbox (we know we need to replace DB with something we build ourselves, but that will be the next phase). This is exactly what Time Tracker (a Sourcebits-built app) is. AEC is simply building more Time Tracker type apps and putting them under one umbrella (in one app) - AccountEdge Cloud.

The development of AccountEdge Cloud (AEC) focuses on a redesigned Time Tracker as a module within AEC. Initial capabilities include Order Entry for managing quotes and invoices, Dashboards for key metrics, and Admin roles for rights management. Additional features will incorporate Fulfillment integration with shipping services, Bill Presentment and Payment via a web portal, and Customer Payments for processing. Inventory management, Expense Reporter for expense submissions, and enhanced Job Management and CRM Lite functionalities will also be included, addressing the diverse needs of users. Each module will be supported by a dedicated Business Requirements Document to ensure effective implementation.

Data between AED and TT is currently synced via Dropbox, but the goal is to replace it with an Acclivity-built server for more reliable, automated synchronization and improved user experience.

The Admin feature in TT will expand to allow more complex permissioning, enabling tailored access to specific modules like Order Entry and Time Tracker.

Ascendum collaborated with the Fortune 500 health insurance company to enhance insights into customer usage across three external customer-service channels — the mobile app, website, and call center. The primary objective was to analyze customer responses and identify correlations (using P-value) between the survey scores and various user profiles, segments, and behaviours. Given the segmented data sources, the enterprise required assistance in establishing an improved data collection system and a comprehensive dashboard for actionable analytics.

To further strengthen the relationship and explore new territory, we developed a surprise AR concept that tapped into the emerging buzz around augmented reality. The idea was to create an engaging, educational experience for both kids and adults, one that introduced gemology through interactive play.

We designed an AR game that encouraged users to step outside and "mine" for virtual gemstones in real-world locations. A small, animated robot companion guided the experience, helping users scan their surroundings, extract stones, and learn about their discoveries. Each gemstone came with its own collectible card - complete with stats, background, and rarity details - making the experience feel part educational, part game. Players could mine, collect, gift, or even purchase new stones to build out their personal vaults.

The result was a fun, exploratory game that blended learning with light adventure. We crafted a unique, friendly robot character to drive the experience, giving the app a distinct personality. While the project remained a concept, it helped spark internal excitement and demonstrated how future-facing tech like AR could bring Jewelry Television’s brand into new, imaginative spaces.

Jewelry Television is one of America’s largest gemstone and jewelry sellers. They asked us to build a mobile application called “JTV Community”, which is a digital platform that enables the user to collect, document and interact with their gemstone collection.It is also a community hub for JTV and its chosen customers that encourages interactions, competitiveness, knowledge and goods exchange. The platform is designed to encourage content discovery, vault processing, item and user interactions. There is a foundation laid out for
enabling monetization, collaborative behaviors and potentially gamification.

We took a strategic, phased approach to development and design, starting with a responsive web app before expanding to a native mobile experience. Our recommendation was to focus on a single content type in the first version, allowing for streamlined development and valuable customer insights with minimal investment. The specific content focus should be guided by targeted research on JTV’s audience.

Gemstone Discovery was a unique platform for JTV customers to catalog their personal gemstone collections. With a core set of features, the application enabled a robust roadmap of exciting enhancements aligned with business goals. The launch of Gemstone Discovery took place at the annual JTV Experience event, giving die-hard fans early access to the application and the opportunity to provide critical feedback.

Hive is a platform that acts as an operating system for disease-specific pediatric networks. Each network brings caregivers, clinicians, and researchers together to share data, collaborate, and improve outcomes. Because members are part-time and scattered across tools, the task was to consolidate collaboration, documentation, and outcome data into a single system and improve both UI and UX.

The platform was difficult to navigate due to a fragmented and confusing structure, with related modules scattered and unclear labels that left users unsure of their purpose. Navigation relied on linear top links, which limited future expansion. On top of that, the Home screen was cluttered, making it hard for users to focus on the content that mattered most.

Navigation shifted from linear top links to a persistent sidebar to make navigation more intuitive and easier to expand over time. The Home screen was decluttered, giving users a cleaner view and clearer focus on what matters - content from actual people.

Acclivity Group LLC's AccountEdge is a top-tier accounting software designed to provide an intuitive and efficient solution for small businesses across the globe. Recognizing the growing need for mobility and seamless access, they set out to develop a cutting-edge mobile app that could effortlessly sync with AccountEdge on desktop devices via WiFi.This initiative aimed to empower users to manage their finances on the go, ensuring continuous productivity and real-time updates, no matter where they are.

We developed a versatile "Universal" app that functions seamlessly on both iPhone and iPad, offering tailored user interfaces optimized for each device. To ensure cross-platform compatibility, we integrated web syncing capabilities via Dropbox, allowing users to sync data effortlessly between Mac and Windows systems. This solution not only enhanced flexibility but also provided a smooth, consistent experience across multiple devices and operating systems.‍

The Ascendum Design Team was asked to bring cognitive testing to mobile devices. The catch was, the interactions had to pass behavioral psychology testing to ensure there was no bias created through the design process. Oh and for fun, we were asked to make the assessments fun, highly interactive, and timed.

We spent a great deal of time with the behavioral psychologists understanding the Do's and Don'ts on how cognitive testing was performed via a web browser. We designed concepts and then went into deep-dive review sessions to further learn the specific details of cognitive testing. After a couple more design revision cycles, we were well on our way to an approved UI experience!

At any point in time, one-third of the traffic in a crowded downtown area is searching for parking. When city planners need to plan for parking revenue, utilization of existing assets and creating new revenue models are crucial. For consumers, the inability to find parking spaces leads to frustration. Lack of nearby parking also affects local business adversely. Ascendum worked with our client to build a dynamic solution that helped city planners, customers and local businesses alike.

We built a Hybrid Smart Parking Platform that combined existing city parking data with a IoT solution that provided a unified, interactive view of real-time parking demand and city-wide parking guidance. By deploying the IoT solution, any modern city can now effectively facilitate sophisticated analysis, planning and implementation of custom smart-parking programs to achieve ambitious transportation and mobility goals. For some, going on a shopping trip, using basic literacy skills, understanding how to act appropriately, or transitioning from school to adult life are very challenging tasks. The Functional Skills System provides easy to understand information that allows learners to become more capable of functioning independently in their homes, schools, communities and workplaces. The dozens of independent programs in this system increase a learner's ability to make appropriate choices.Functional Skills System uses real videos makes for quicker generalization of the concepts being taught, and with a video library of over 4,500 videos to choose from, there's something for everyone. Whether the user needs help with basic signs & words, hygiene, grooming, dress, or social skills, our system uses real-life video (not cartoons, drawings, animations or symbols) to communicate the concept clearly and effectively.

A platform that provides an enriched life skill learning experience for children, with two different modes. In learn mode allows parents to seamlessly create their skill material by adding to the integrated pasteboard. It enables parents to present skills interactively in an engaging way. Outside of learn mode allows them to prepare lessons, modifying skills, and resources. We also imagined a companion app designed to support the main platform. This supplementary app would ensure that parents had a means to globally manage skills.

The client launched a new pharmacy benefit manager to help simplify prescription drug coverage. They needed an intuitive client portal and web interface offering a one-stop location for payers and employer groups to seamlessly interact with a growing suite of tools.The greatest challenge was creating an intuitive navigation system that would permit global access to both new and existing services via SSO. The current system had a very complex and convoluted registration process for multiple services that catered to varying user types. They needed the portal to be executed in a way that felt cohesive, but they lacked control and ownership of the design language and styling for several linked services.

The Ascendum team collaborated with the enterprise's internal team to ensure the needed data was being captured, PHI regulations were upheld, and security measures were in place to deliver encrypted registration data safely and effectively to the appropriate verification teams.‍

Our client is a leader in the engineering and manufacturing of products used for dispensing adhesive, sealants, coatings, and fluid management. With operations in more than 35 countries, they knew that digitizing certain aspects of their business could take them to the next level. The project they had in mind involved their melters, a machine that dispenses hot glue-like solutions. These melters have operators who previously were monitoring the levels for data like temperature and pressure from one location and then going out to the machine in question to adjust them in person.Their goal was to begin utilizing touchscreen, web-based apps for these products, making them more efficient and user friendly.

To help them design and develop these solutions, it was important to learn more about their business. We employed a team of industrial designers who walked the floor with the operators, immersing themselves in the needs of the users. We approached the build in phases. For the first phase, we developed a touch screen interface that allowed operators to monitor the controls while walking the floor. In the second phase, we designed an app to not only monitor machine activity, but also react to critical issues quickly.‍

‍We approached this solution with one key idea in mind‚îthe data should tell a clear story. It was essential to develop a simple solution for a complex machine. Within seconds, the operator should have the information needed to react in an informed and meaningful way. We designed an intuitive interface that displays only the most important information, incorporating scrollable script views and actionable items.

We included a layout of functions, numbers, gauges, and statistical charts ensuring the operators always have direct access to key data. We also included the ability to configure the settings offline and then import them into themeter when ready.The use of familiar industry terms and icons made the transition to the app easy. Additionally, we made it much easier to monitor the machinery systems through real-time alerts when a service requirement is necessary. Our data scientists used information the operators had gathered to implement a feature to predict  machine failure and decrease downtime.

The mortgage industry is highly regulated, fragmented and still paper intensive, with a reliance on many third-parties that are necessary to complete a transaction. Data security and non-public information (NPI) are key considerations. Volumes in the industry can vary wildly with interest rates. Our client has grown from approximately 500 employees in 2013, to over 9,000 now, and was looking for a partner that could grow with them as they expanded their suite of services.

Ascendum started in 2013 by providing loan setup services, for what was at that time, a small lender with a limited footprint.Ascendum KPS was selected for our expertise in this area and our global delivery, which works the same hours as our client. As the company expanded, compliance became a critical issue, and we were asked to assist with various initiatives. In India, mining operations encompass both underground and surface mines. The need for strict safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment to safeguard miners' well-being amidst hazardous conditions is crucial.

Despite these challenges, connectivity remains a significant concern, particularly in remote areas where internet access is limited or absent, hampering communication and emergency responses.
Technicians are often far away and unable to easily get to equipment in the field that needs serviced. What if there was a better way to engage with operators or technicians in the field without the need to send more technicians?

Our globally known for high safety ratings and quality client made new partnerships to create a new OS that might affect day-to-day work on several industries.

Our design team focused on how they could create a tool to increase workers performance and safety during their workday.

The main constraint they faced was knowing the poor internet connectivity in both open pit and underground mines.

The design team planned to use Bluetooth or other nearby type of communication, so both solutions could work underground or in places with low to no internet connection.

Our team developed two different concepts and solutions for different needs and situations: mobile and smart glasses.

To ensure safety first, on mobile emergency notifications have a more important highlight on lock screen. And the smart glasses should be worn at all times and receive or send notification during emergencies to evacuate the mines.

Other smart safety possibilities were considered, such as earbuds for noise cancelling, voice guidance for calling, reporting or to receive help remotely from other technicians, and also gloves with sensors that are easily recognized by the smart glasses to improve navigation.

The goal was to develop an intelligent digital companion app designed for chronic illness patients, enabling them to monitor their vitals, gain valuable insights, and periodically share reports with healthcare providers, thereby empowering individuals to take proactive control of their well-being.

Designing an intelligent assistant app for chronic illness patients requires a user-centered, empathetic approach, coupled with practical functionality. Our process began by thoroughly understanding the challenges patients face. Our client is one of the largest early childhood education partners in the country, with over 500 franchised schools across dozens of states. Because of the global pandemic, parents were unable to send their children to school in person. Our client needed a tool to help students continue to learn and maintain their connections with classmates and teachers.While individual tools existed, no one application brought all the functionality together in a way that preschool students could use.Time was of the essence, and the client wanted to launch a pilot project as quickly as possible.

Ascendum worked hand-in-hand with Goddard's IT team, stakeholders, parents, teachers, and students to deliver the pilot‚ "Goddard-on-the-Go" application in eight weeks. The feature set continued to evolve as the product was being built.The front-end of the web app was built in Angular and the backend API was built in C# .Net Core. Our team used an SQL database for the school and user information, and Azure Blob Storage for videos. The virtual classroom UI was wrapped around a Zoom API.

With the announcement of Vision Pro, Apple introduced a remarkable, high-end device for VR and AR. Ascendum saw an opportunity to brainstorm and imagine what could be in a variety of industries while learning about Apple's recommended best practices and investigating the new VisionOS SDK.The first industry we focused on was healthcare. What compelling new services could be offered to users?

Our main demonstration focused on a motion mock-up. Camera motion from the original video was tracked and a 3D scene reconstructed with a virtual camera to match the real camera used. With a mixture of warping, animated masks, optics compensation and scaling we were able to insert our own elements seamlessly into the scene. Making them feel like part of the world.For the product concepts our team researched the thorough coverage and guidelines provided by Apple's WWDC videos and Human Interface Guidelines. We took ideas personal to us and expanded on them, such as one of our Creative Directors finding frustration with subpar videos demonstrating physiotherapy exercises. We wanted to explore both concepts that were centered on the user and their needs as well as how AR could expand and create new experiences when dealing with healthcare professionals.

Beyond our motion and SDK demos, we crafted four separate concepts:

• Utilizes the unique AR potential of VisionOS, enabling users to examine exercises from any angle
