Creating an in-house, email signature generator using AI to help build and code.
The brief.
The goal was to provide employees with a simple, user-friendly tool to generate a fully branded email signature compatible with Microsoft Outlook on both desktop and web, without requiring technical support.
This brief was self-initiated in response to a clear gap in employee communication materials. With no existing solution in place and no dedicated developer on the project, the task was to create a fully responsive, web-based email signature generator hosted on the Ascendum website
Our approach.
With no formal development background, a uniqueself-initiated approach was taken to research and builda fully branded email signature generator compatiblewith Microsoft Outlook for both desktop and web.Using AI tools like ChatGPT, the project lead rapidly developed and refined the code, ensuring responsive design, cross platform compatibility, and ease of use.The final solution was hosted on the Ascendum website, allowing employees to input their details and generate signatures instantly.
Self-led development initiative
With no formal coding background, the project lead undertook aself-taught approach, initiating extensive research into HTML email formatting and Outlook-specific requirements. The project evolved through iterative problem-solving, learning best practices in live email rendering environments.
Collaboration with AI tools
To accelerate learning and support technical implementation, the developer leveraged ChatGPT as a collaborative assistant.This allowed for rapid prototyping, detailed validation, and refinementof code with a focus on compatibility, accessibility, and simplicity.
Fully branded, responsive design
Every element of the signature generator was tailored to reflect Ascendum’s brand identity - from logo presentation in dark/light mode to font styling and mobile responsiveness. Special attention was paid to ensure the output matched both the visual design system and the functional needs of corporate users.
Web-based generator deployment
A dedicated landing page was created at on the Ascendum website, allowing all employees to easily access the generator from any device. The tool features a form-based interface that captures key personal details and renders a live preview for copy-and-paste implementation into Microsoft Outlook.

The result was a professional, company-widesignature tool that ensured brand consistencyacross all communications. It reduced the workload for IT and HR by enabling employees to generate their own signatures, andimproved the onboarding experience.
