A concept for the largest medical guideline library in the world.

A medical guidelines app.

The brief.

Guideline Central, established in 1999 in Florida, initially focused on providing pocket-sized guideline cards for healthcare professionals. By March 2013, they expanded into digital with an iOS app, followed by Android and web platforms, offering 2,600+ medical guideline summaries and millions of related content items to over 1.5 million users worldwide. After a major v3 app overhaul in January 2015, Guideline Central approached to us to reimagine the mobile experience, aiming to streamline navigation and optimize usability for clinicians accessing critical medical information on the go.

Navigation

Make it easier for clinicians in the field to navigate and use a large repository of medical care content on demand.

Striking visual design

The design must be modern, highly legible for text-heavy content, and functional in both day and night environments.

Advanced search

The search functionality must support multiple keyword highlighting and allow users to note specific terms for better navigation.

Our approach.

We focused on enhancing usability through thoughtful design elements. Custom icons and color coding were introduced to distinguish categories clearly, making navigation more intuitive. For text highlights, we implemented a visually engaging system with a scrollbar that indicates the approximate location of each highlight. This allows users to quickly understand the distribution of results and navigate the content more efficiently.

The outcome.

The design strikes a balance between functionality and aesthetics, offering an intuitive interface that simplifies browsing, purchasing, and engaging with detailed medical content. It prioritizes usability with features like keyword highlighting and organized categories, ensuring users can quickly find and interact with the information they need.
